Anir Experience is a volunteer work and cultural education program focused predominantly on North American awareness awakening. Anir is a non-sectarian, non-governmental organization, working cooperatively with NGO’s and grassroots community groups in Southern and Eastern Africa. Anir Experience strives to broaden the global perspective and sense of global responsibility among North Americans (USA and Canada) by offering community service and educational opportunities in underserved communities in Southern and Eastern Africa. We want people to not only learn about the world beyond their own, but to participate in the broader world, as well.
The Heart of South Africa - Cape Town: A 10-day Education & Responsible Tourism Vacation
Dates: March 8 – 15 2025 (Schedule your travel to arrive in Cape Town, South Africa (CPT) March 8, 2025 and depart March 15, 2025)
Mar 8 Arrive Cape Town International Airport, where you will be met by your Anir Education Specialist who will be with you the full length of your visit and available to you 24/7. If you arrive before 5:00pm you will enjoy dinner in a favorite CPT family restaurant.
March 9 Morning, after breakfast you will be introduced to the City of Cape Town (CPT) and its history. In the afternoon, view beautiful Cape Town from the top of Table Mountain. Lunch on the top of the mountain and you can leisurely hike around the top. Afternoon we will drive to Lion’s Head to view the sunset over the Atlantic Ocean then dinner at a local cuisine restaurant.
Mar 10 After breakfast, visit historic District 6 and the Bo-Kaap and its magnificently colored homes. For lunch, you will attend a Cape Malay cooking class.
Mar 11 In the morning, a visit to Greenmarket Square, the oldest market in South Africa. Traditionally Greenmarket only carried South African made goods, since the release of Nelson Mandela in 1994, Greenmarket offers arts, crafts and goods from all over the continent. In the afternoon, and stroll the famed Kirstenbosch Gardens, home to 10% of the world’s flora.

Mar 13 Visit Robben Island where Nelson Mandela spent 18 of his 27 years in prison. Afternoon free to wonder the Victoria and Alfred waterfront.
Mar 14 A trip to the Cape of Good Hope. Driving the start of the Garden Rout to the Cape Peninsula.
Mar 15 Head home or

Cost $3535 - Application deadline December 30, 2024. A 50% non-refundable deposit must be made with your application. Full payment balance due January 15, 2025. Any applications made between December 30, 2025 and before January 15, 2025, an additional $300 will be added to the cost and subject to availability.
If Anir cancels because of a lack of participation, a full refund will be given. There is no refund if a participant cancels for any reason, but they can transfer their spot to someone else, or receive a tax deductible receipt for the full amount.

The service of an USAmerican Anir Experience Education Specialists (AES)/Logistics person who will be with you 24/7from your arrival in Cape Town and is there to answer all questions and responded to you immediately.
Access to a local, highly experienced, English-speaking South African AES.
Airport and lodging porterage, pick-up and drop off.
All in country program related transportation.
Gratuity and tips for guides, Lodging and restaurants staff.
Donation to community programs and work supplies.

Visas, at this writing here is no visa cost and you receive your visa at the South African point of entry.
Shots and trip medication. Check the CDC webpage for updated travel immunization information. Please note we WILL NOT be traveling in a malaria zone. We recommend the following shots/prophylaxis medication: Tetanus, Hep-A, Hep-B, COVID-19, BUT SPEAK WITH YOUR PHYSICIAN before doing any of these!!! – Be sure to pack enough personal medication and carry an extra script.
